The capacity should be assessed according to the requirements on board. This could, for example, be the number of taps and whether toilets are connected to the pressure water system. A pressure water pump works with a pressure switch that activates the pump if the pressure drops. The pressure drops when a tap is opened, and shortly after the pump will start and pressurise the water. When the tap is closed, the pressure in the hose rises and the pump will stop.

If you want to be able to use a small amount of water without necessarily activating the pump, an expansion tank can be installed on the system. In that case, water will be drawn from the tank first, without the pump needing to start until the pressure has dropped.
