Capacity should be assessed based on the requirements onboard. This includes, for example, the number of outlets and whether toilets are connected to the pressure water system. A fresh water pressure pump works with a pressure switch that activates the pump if the pressure drops. The pressure drops when a tap is opened, and shortly after the pump will start and pressurize the water. When the tap is closed, the pressure in the hose rises and the pump will stop.

If you want to be able to use a small amount of water without necessarily activating the pump, an expansion tank can be fitted to the system. In that case, water will be drawn from the tank first, without the pump needing to start until the pressure has dropped.
