The capacity should be assessed according to the requirements on board. This includes, for example, the number of taps and whether toilets are connected to the water pressure system. A pressure water pump works with a pressure switch that activates the pump if the pressure drops. The pressure drops when a tap is opened, and immediately after that the pump starts and pressurizes the water. When the tap is closed, the pressure in the hose rises and the pump stops.

If you want to be able to use a small amount of water without necessarily activating the pump, an expansion tank can be fitted to the system. Water will then be drawn from the tank first, without the pump needing to start until the pressure has dropped.
